How Did I Get Here – A Review

About the Book

Do you feel lost? Disconnected? Like you’re just going through the motions?

When you don’t know the next step to take, God’s grace empowers you with a way forward. His hope offers an anchor for the soul and a way to get back on track. His faithfulness declares that wherever you are now, he is always ready to bring you home.

As a respected Bible teacher, author, and activist, Christine Caine knew that Jesus was her only anchor. But after an especially difficult season, she found herself drifting, unsure if she wanted to keep going the way she always had and asking, “How did I get here?” as she struggled to return to the steadiness of God’s purpose for her. Where she once wanted to take ground, she now just wanted to take cover. It was a bewildering and disorienting place to be—one you may also have found yourself in before.

Life rarely goes the way we planned, and Christine Caine tackles that idea in her latest book. Combing candor with humor, Christine Caine provides insights for learning to trust God more and recognizing He has a path for us to take. Sharing her own journey, Christine creates a work her readers will relate to in the end. Including thoughts, prayers, actions and sometimes hard questions, this book deserves your attention. The topics she touches on suit the climate of today’s world. So check it out for yourself.

Mysteries of the Messiah – A Review

Description:

God’s Word, written by many people over thousands of years, is not a random selection of people and stories, but they have intricate connections. Rabbi Jason connects the dots for readers, helping them see with clarity what God intended.

Highlighting connections that have been hidden from non-Jewish eyes, Rabbi Jason Sobel pulls back the curtain to shed God’s light on the holy scriptures.

Most people do not understand how the Bible fits together—even people of faith. Too many Christians accept half an inheritance in that they are content to embrace merely the New Testament. On the flip side, Jews often experience this by embracing only the Old Testament. But God has an intricate plan and purpose for both.

In Mysteries of the Messiah, Rabbi Jason Sobel, raised in a Jewish home in New Jersey but now a follower of Yeshua, pulls back the curtain to show the many connections in Scripture hidden in plain sight. Known for his emphatic declaration “but there’s more!” he guides readers from the story of creation through Revelation to see the passion and purpose of the Messiah, the Torah, and several of the patriarchs and prophet

Connecting the Old Testament with the New Testament, Rabbi Jason Soebel does an incredible job bringing the Bible to life. As the wife of a preacher, I always enjoy discovering the connections between the Old and New Testament. Written in a manner that is straight-forward, I enjoyed diving in the words this author shared.

I find the fact a rabbi wrote this book to make the thoughts and ideas more meaningful. If you wish to read and explore a book that delves into how the pieces of the Bible connect together, check out this book for yourself.

I have to say I have loved planners for a number of years. So when I had the opportunity to review this set, I found myself almost giddy with excitement. With all that occurred during 2020, I find myself almost looking forward to 2021 with anticipation. This set includes a planner, 4 pens, a case, stickers, a notepad, tote bag and more.

I love the pouch, the pens, and the notepad. However, I wish the stickers could fit into the pouch. However, the tote bag provides plenty of space for everything. With the tote bag, my one desire would be longer straps. The straps are only long enough to hold by the hand and not sit on my shoulder. I like the point on the pens, however the yellow provides very little brightness. I think it suits as a circling things as a highlighter more than a writing tool.

The planner itself comes with a faux leather cover available in shades of grapefruit pink, slate gray, and coconut brown. I had a hard time deciding between the gray and the pink. However, pink won in the end. One of my favorite parts about this planner arises from no coil. This planner is book bound rather than spiral bound, so I do not have to worry about the spiral coil getting in the way or impeding my writing. However, it does not lay as flat as I would like. I love having stickers to personalize the planner with as well.

It comes with features including monthly calendars, weekly spreads, an attached bookmark. space to create a vision board, pages for notes, and more. It definitely provides the key features I am looking for in a planner. It is big enough to provide space, while being thin enough to not be bulky. I love having a coordination tote bag to carry everything in as well.

All things considered, I have to say I am looking forward to using this planner in 2021. So if you are looking for a planner set, check out this set for yourself.

Review and Giveaway for Generation to Generation

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Faith remains one of the greatest gift we can pass on to our children and grandchildren. This is known as l’dor v’dor in Judaism meaning, “from generation to generation,” and expresses how faith passes down from one generation to the next through the holy observances and traditions that happen within the life of the family.

Yael Eckstein explores the lessons of faith instilled in her by her parents in Generation to Generation. This faith allowed her to persevere after the sudden death of her father Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein. It also provided the hope and courage she needed in order to follow in his footsteps as the President and CEO of The Fellowship.

Generation to Generation examines the holy observances and traditions while revealing the key values each one reinforces. Now Yael Eckstein and her husband pass on theese values to their four children, which will in turn allow the reader to pass on a strong, living faith to your children and grandchildren.

For many years, I have followed the blog and ministry of The Fellowship. As a born-again Christian, I recognize the importance of the values of the Jewish faith, so I gratefully accepted the opportunity to read this book.

As I began reading, I found myself pulled into the pages. As the mother of four – three sons in their 20s and a daughter who is almost 18, I recognize the importance of passing our faith down through the generations.

I appreciate Yael Eckstein’s ability to share her family’s traditions, observances, and more through the pages of this book. Each chapter includes Jewish observances, how their family incorporate those teachings in their family, how the observances relates to Christians and questions and stories to discuss with your family. It presents a selection of Bible verses which emphasize a key value. The book remains a tribute to Yael Eckstein’s father. The connection between the Jewish faith and Christianity remains indisputable. This book draws connections between the two faiths while illustrating how to build relationships with faith that span generations.

Truly, this book is one worth reading and sharing with those around you. So check it out for yourself. I received a copy of this book from Frontgate Bloggers to review. All opinions in this review are my own.

ABOUT The Internation Fellowship of Christians:

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews was founded in 1983 by Orthodox Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, whose vision for building bridges of understanding and cooperation between Christians and Jews has been translated into the largest Christian-supported humanitarian agency helping Jews in Israel and around the world. You can learn more about the organization and Rabbi Eckstein here.

For more than 2,000 years, the Jewish people have preserved and maintained their faith from generation to generation, despite being exiled from their land and suffering persecutions, pogroms, and even the Holocaust, where six million Jewish women, men, and children were killed at the hands of the Nazis. In her book, Generation to Generation, Fellowship President and CEO Yael Eckstein unlocks the keys to how the Jewish people have successfully passed on the legacy of faith through the family,  and offers insights into how Christians can incorporate these principles within their own families to pass on a strong and living faith.

Generously seasoned with humor and empathy, this book includes stories that tell of triumph, failure, heartbreak, and redemption. Holy Guacamole allows our hearts to connect to the unfailing power of God’s call for us to live a life that is full of His Love for us and for the world we live in today.

Quite a few years ago, I discovered I loved guacamole, but only if it had chunks of avocados, bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes.  As a result, I began crafting and creating homemade guacamole.  My husband will only eat my guacamole in fact.  I love taking the time to prepare this condiment for our Mexican meals.  So when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it, and it did not disappoint.

We have an undeniable worth since God has created us in His Image.  With chapters that have titles such as “From the Well to the Ice Maker”, “Sit Down Deborah”, “Pretty Things and Their Ugly Cousins at Home”, among others, this book captured my attention just with the titles.  I had to read more to find out what the chapter titles had to do with God and my relationship with Him

80814666_582451532339409_2227072472480413388_n

It helped remind me that I should only be looking to God for validation of who I am and what I am worth. This book will challenge you and cause you to look at your life and the value you put on it.

So if you are looking for a book that will show how incredibly valuable we are to God.  So check out this book for yourself.

The Book consistently leads back to God’s grace, mercy, and love.

Review and Giveaway for Operation Blesssing’s Recipes from Around the World

about_header

As a homeschooling mother, I am always on the lookout for interesting cookbooks to utilize in our home.  “Recipes from Around the World” provides just such an experience.  This soft-covered cookbook includes 34 different recipes from around the world.

CookBook

With recipes from around the world including from Asia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, and the United States, this little book offers a large variety of choices.

Some of the recipes had familiar names such as Swiss Steak, Enchiladas, plus Rice and Beans.  Other recipes were not at all familiar to me, such as Gado Gado from Asia, Shashuka from Israel, and Loma Saltada.  Yet, they inspired me to learn more about the recipes as well as the countries they are from too.

In addition to the recipes, each country has an introduction with information such as about Operation Blessing building a well for clean drinking and cooking water in the Nuu’s village.  Nuu is an elderly woman who needed safe water in order to live.

Operation Blessing strives to improve the conditions of people around the world.  The proceeds from this cookbook will help achieve that goal.  They do everything from disaster relief to clean water.
