Review and Giveaway for Generation to Generation

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Faith remains one of the greatest gift we can pass on to our children and grandchildren. This is known as l’dor v’dor in Judaism meaning, “from generation to generation,” and expresses how faith passes down from one generation to the next through the holy observances and traditions that happen within the life of the family.

Yael Eckstein explores the lessons of faith instilled in her by her parents in Generation to Generation. This faith allowed her to persevere after the sudden death of her father Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein. It also provided the hope and courage she needed in order to follow in his footsteps as the President and CEO of The Fellowship.

Generation to Generation examines the holy observances and traditions while revealing the key values each one reinforces. Now Yael Eckstein and her husband pass on theese values to their four children, which will in turn allow the reader to pass on a strong, living faith to your children and grandchildren.

For many years, I have followed the blog and ministry of The Fellowship. As a born-again Christian, I recognize the importance of the values of the Jewish faith, so I gratefully accepted the opportunity to read this book.

As I began reading, I found myself pulled into the pages. As the mother of four – three sons in their 20s and a daughter who is almost 18, I recognize the importance of passing our faith down through the generations.

I appreciate Yael Eckstein’s ability to share her family’s traditions, observances, and more through the pages of this book. Each chapter includes Jewish observances, how their family incorporate those teachings in their family, how the observances relates to Christians and questions and stories to discuss with your family. It presents a selection of Bible verses which emphasize a key value. The book remains a tribute to Yael Eckstein’s father. The connection between the Jewish faith and Christianity remains indisputable. This book draws connections between the two faiths while illustrating how to build relationships with faith that span generations.

Truly, this book is one worth reading and sharing with those around you. So check it out for yourself. I received a copy of this book from Frontgate Bloggers to review. All opinions in this review are my own.

Have you ever suffered for doubt and wondered where God was in the midst of it?  If you have then this is a book you should read.  Sharing her own experiences, Sheryl Giesbrecht Turner illustrates how it is okay to doubt as long as you look to God and the Bible for answers.

I think one of my favorite quotes from the book says, “God is not threatened by our questions, logic, science, or emotion.”  It is hard to sometimes believe God loves us when we feel like He is not listening.  So if you are suffering from doubts or questions, you should definitely check out this book.

When you have doubts, it is easy to get caught up in the lies Satan wants you to believe.  But that is precisely when you need to see and believe God’s truths.  It is important to reach out and lean on God.

I’ve always been the one to ask the questions. As a kindergartener, I embarrassed my mother when I inquired, “Where did I come from?” Years passed, as a teenager, I made unhealthy life choices, experimented with alcohol and street drugs, and wondered, “What am I here for?” As a young adult, in Bible College; I asked God to take control of my life and questioned, “What’s my purpose?” Maybe you, too, have had or now have questions? These concerns may even keep you up at night? Doubting ourselves or God may be criticized as a lack of faith. I disagree. Doubt is the in between. Doubts need to be addressed. If doubts are not considered, they will rot our faith from the inside out. When we doubt, we are able to be honest with ourselves and God. We should not be afraid to doubt.

As a delivered drug addict, stage four cancer survivor, and former widow, I’ve faced many types of situations which caused me to question God’s love, goodness and compassion. As I have gone to His word, I’ve discovered He hasn’t changed, His word continues to speak and revives my faith, taking me to a deeper level every single time. I am reminded of this in Lamentations 3:21-24 (NIV) Yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

The book is divided into six chapters with five lessons in each chapter.  The stories from the author and other women bring the book to life.  I found the book to be one that caused me to want to study more and dive deeper into God’s Word.

Okay, I need to start off by saying the title of this book grabbed my attention.  I do not necessarily think of “ridiculous” as being a good way to describe a marriage.  But as I began reading Dr. Stieglitz explanation about “ridiculous” in terms of  marriage, I found myself caught up in his explanation.  After all, my husband and I have been married for over 27 years, and I want to be able to say that we have a “ridiculously great marriage.”

As I look back on the marriage of my husband’s paternal grandparents, I can honestly say they had a ridiculously great marriage.  The type of marriage they had is the type of marriage I want to have with my husband.

This book does an excellent job of providing guidance for steps to take to protect, strengthen, and nurture a marriage.  While I know our children will always be our children, I also recognize the fact that our children range from 23 to 17 and will eventually leave our home. I want to know my husband and I have taken steps to create a lasting, meaningful, and Biblically-based marriage that will stand the test of time.  This book provides tools and techniques for doing exactly that.  From things such as spending time alone together to scheduling a weekly “Staff meeting’, the ideas are ones that any couple can do (even those without a lot of extra money floating around.

So if you are looking for a book to strengthen and enrich your marriage, check out this book for yourself.

One of my favorite books in the Bible is Galatians, a book written by Paul.  If God can use someone like Paul to spread His Gospel message, He can turn anyone else’s life around as well.  This book contains devotionals about imperfect people trying to turn their lives around to God and develop a deeper relationship with Him.  It demonstrates the importance of following God’s Word and being with God’s people.

The devotional section is followed by a conversation relating to the Bible, the book of Galatian, and the words of Paul.  It includes questions for reflection, some contain Scripture passages to refer to, while others call for inner reflection.  Personal application questions are also included, as well as points to ponder and prayers.

This workbook will cause you to think and should be read with your Bible and a notebook or other means of recording your thoughts and feelings.  So check it out for yourself.

It was not until years later that I found a church emphasizing God’s love. I read the Word and prayed daily and began to develop a close, personal relationship with God. But fear kept haunting me until I really got into Galatians and broke it down, verse by verse. The book of Galatians is a crucial book of the Bible for me because it emphasizes God’s love and forgiveness and provides assurance that, even though I mess up at times, God still loves me!

It is my hope and prayer that you, too, can embrace the beautiful message of love and acceptance contained in Galatians and apply it to your life. When we fully submit and trust God for our lives, an overwhelming peace envelops us. We no longer need to fear Him. He is a loving God who provides all our needs and protects, encourages, comforts, and directs us. He is our heavenly Father, our constant companion, and a friend who really does have all the right answers.

Living in a right relationship with God dramatically changes the way we view ourselves and the world. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17 KJV).

Written in a down-to-earth, easy-to-read approach, the Bible studies contained in Letter from Paulhighlight the main points covered in each chapter of Galatians.

It is my hope and prayer that this book will erase the doubts and fears of Christians who question their salvation or fear that they are not good enough to maintain it and to point the way for the unsaved to realize how easy it is to become a child of God.

Covering topics from the fact that God wants to have a relationship with us to Christ’s Role in the God’s Redemptive plan, this book covers a lot of ground.  I believe this book has something to offer both new Christians and those who want to rekindle their relationship with God.  This book examines everything from becoming a Christian until the time you leave this earth to enter God’s Kingdom.

This book is a short read that contains quite a bit of information. I encourage you to read it with your Bible open and a notebook to record any thoughts you might have while reading.

One thing I do appreciate this book is how in many cases only Scripture references are given because this allows the reader to look up the passages in whatever Bible they prefer reading.  After all, the Bible is meant to provide God’s people with knowledge of Him, His love, and His guidelines we need to follow.  So check out this book for yourself.

Pearl Nsiah-Kumi is a retired Registered Nurse; she grew up in Ghana, West Africa. She has lived in the USA for forty years and has three adult children, one son-in-law and four beautiful grandchildren. Pearl has authored two books in the past two years and loves to express her understanding of the Bible through writing articles and poems. Her goal is two-fold: To reach people with the truth of God’s word in inviting them to experience faith in Jesus Christ, and also to encourage Christians to mature in walking faithfully with their God through obedience to Him. I wrote this book: FROM THE GARDEN INTO ETERNITY, because I felt the need to explain step-by-step how we, people created in the image of God lost our relationship with Him, and how that relationship could be restored. Along with the explanation, I also felt the need to stress the urgency of the restoration of that relationship. Why the urgency? It is urgent, because time is running out for all of us, and if one’s relationship isn’t restored in this life, eternity will be awful. Since no one knows how much time they have left in this life, we each need to respond to God’s love now, so we can have the assurance of a blissful eternity in heaven. Each person has to make a personal decision about their eternity.

For quite a number of years, our family has utilized essential oils as a way of helping us breath easier.  So when I saw the opportunity to review this book, I was glad to participate in this tour. I desire to learn more about essential oils and how they were used during Biblical times.

When I first met my husband who was a deacon in the Primitive Baptist Church started by his grandfather, I frequently saw my husband, his father, and often his grandfather go to those who were sick in order to anoint them with oils and pray for them.  In James 5:14, we are told, “14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord”.  This reference provides a reason to use oils in the ways God directed His people to do so.

From cooking to romance to a joy-filled life, and more, Teri Secrest does an incredible job of looking at essential oils.  Bringing in the story of Queen Esther provided a wonderful Biblical reference.  This book is a wonderful read for any Christian wanting to learn more about essential oils.

Utilizing the Book of Proverbs, this study concentrates on who God really is.  I wish I could say I was completely captivated by this study, but I found it slightly on the dry side. While  I thoroughly enjoyed some parts, others left me struggling to continue reading.

I feel this particular book is more for students of Theology rather than the average Christian.  I found the use of references from the Strong’s Concordance to be helpful.  I also believe having some knowledge of Biblical Greek and Hebrew may be helpful as well.

I believe all Christians desire to know more about who God is to them personally.  I believe many people will find this book interesting and worth reading. However, I believe it is worth reading, but I personally had a hard time with it.  I urge you to check out this book and come to your own conclusions about it.

Wow! Who would have known? Normally, non-fiction books like Wonderful YaH: The Unveiling primarily focus on: what is the problem and how to fix it. However, wouldn’t it be intriguing if a non-fiction book incorporated some elements of a fiction book such as mystery, suspense, and drama, with the reader bring the drama as they deal with their internal dialogue on how to answer a proposed question to help solve the mystery. Be aware, however, that this type of adventure and journey is not for the timid or light of heart. Taking fiction elements such as mystery, suspense, and drama and placing them in a non-fiction book could produce a real-world reality shift that is different from what the reader has known or experienced—Wonderful YaH: The Unveiling is one such book.

Come and join me on a non-fiction journey and adventure that incorporates some elements of fiction that explore, explain, and solve two of the greatest mysteries of the Bible. If there were an answer to this mystery, wouldn’t it be nice to find the answer to this mystery before we die? People often read fiction for the adventure of mystery and suspense. Why not read a non-fiction book that offers mystery and suspense but with real-life consequences?
