We have been supplementing our history studies with The Hidden Message of the Great Seal How Foundational Truth From The Dawn Of Liberty May Rescue A Republic In Peril from The Hidden Message, LLC.  As a member of the Home School Review Crew, I am always excited for our family to receive curriculum products from companies that are new to us.  I am really glad we had the chance to review this one that examines the national seal of our country.  I am the one who read this book for this review, and I am glad to be able to share my experience.

Michael Kanis is on a mission that goes beyond the message of the seal.  The fact is every American has a mission and a calling to be a keeper of our republic.  God provides us with the opportunity to help spread His message and allow the world to experience His Blessings.  This book will allow families to discover the rich history behind the great seal of our country.  In this book, he covers the ideas of freedom, liberty, unity, providence, virtue, and truth

Our family loves discovering and sharing interesting facts and knowledge we discover.  So I wanted to see what I could discover on the pages of this book.  Some of the topics in this book include:

  • The Significance of the Seal
  • A Tale of Two Systems
  • Frances Hopkinson
  • The Pyramid
  • Annuit Coeptis
  • The Eye
  • The Early Designs
  • The Covenant
  • The Front of the Seal
  • The Four Pillars
  • Virtue
  • Freedom
  • Providence

Our family loves discovering and sharing interesting facts and knowledge we find. So I was sure our family would appreciate having the opportunity to read this book and I was correct.  From the introduction, the book captured my attention with its layout, facts, and beautiful images.  History seemed to come to life as I read through the pages.

As I read through this book, I have one major issue and that is the font and the size of it that is used.  As someone with less than perfect vision, I sometimes found it difficult to consistently read through this book.  I wish it offered a larger font that was easier to read.   Also, the fact that this book is softback and wider than it is tall, I sometimes found myself getting tired of holding it.

I found quite a few interesting facts in this book.  The first one is who was actually tasked with creating the seal.  Those individuals were Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams.

The words and images come together in a way that leads the reader on a voyage of his or her own discovery.  I found myself interacting with the book, especially when I read points that reiterated what I already knew from my own studies.  But I have to admit prior to the book, I had not really studied our national seal.  But I definitely plan on going back through this book again for a more in-depth study.

This book is very timely given what is going on in our country today.  I appreciated reading the author’s thoughts on whether or not the founders of our great nation were Christians or not.

I plan to leave this book where members of the family may access it at their leisure.  Our children like history to come to life rather than having boring facts and statistics spewed at them for them to simply reproduce on a test.  I also desire for history, and especially the history of the United States to have personal meaning for them.  This book helps fill that criterion.  I feel this is a book to be savored and studied and experienced rather than read quickly through and then put on a shelf.

The amount of research and time spent on this book makes it one that is truly worth reading and shared with others.  Michael  Kanis has done an incredible job with this book.

The book can be found on Amazon for $29.95, but here is a coupon code for 50% off the cover price if you wish to purchase the book from the web site, with free shipping.  To receive the discount, you only need to apply the coupon code:  HOMESCHOOL at checkout.  The discount is good until 30 May 2020.”

So if you are looking for a book that delves deep into the history, meaning, and symbols of the seal of our great nation, I recommend checking this book out for yourself.  The Hidden Message of the Great Seal How Foundational Truth From The Dawn Of Liberty May Rescue A Republic In Peril from The Hidden Message, LLC. provides incredible insights and information into the seal of the United States and the meanings behind it.
