Thanksgiving in Welcombe Bay by Kate Darroch is Women’s Fiction. Sometimes finding a lasting love involves overcoming a troubled past. Eric, an alcoholic who was a journalist, finds himself working to overcome his past. Lily, trying to overcome a past filled with domestic violence, meets Eric when he visits Welcombe Bay.

I must admit it took me a little bit to get into this book, but once I did I found myself unable to put it down. I appreciated how the author filled this book with messages of faith, hope, and love.

I appreciated the depth of Eric’s sponsor, Bob who is a barrister (lawyer), and the friends who surround Lily. Even though I did not care for his attitude or actions, I appreciated Eric’s supervisor for his community service.

The interactions between the characters brought this story to life. Kate Darroch builds characters and storylines that help bring this book to life. By the time I finished reading, I wanted to read more about these characters and their stories.

About the Author

Kate Darroch lives on the picturesque Devon coastline, where she combines her passion for cozy sleuths and her experiences of life as it’s lived in many countries to create compelling Travel Cozies.

Màiri Maguire, a Scots Irish teacher from 1970s Glasgow, heroine of debut novel, “Death in Paris”, has earned Kate many international book awards, including Readers Favorite Gold Medal for Humor, consolidating her reputation as a notable author.
