Chromatic by Ashley Bustamante is a Young Adult Fantasy. It is the third and final book in the Color Theory series. We watch Elim, Ava, her family, and their friends work to save Magnus. The barrier must come down to save Magnus. Earthquakes, strange weather patterns, and more keep them trying to use color magic to survive.

The author builds a world throughout the series that keeps me reading. While you could probably read this book independently, I do not recommend it. You need to read the book to gain an appreciation of the characters, the storyline, and how both develop throughout the series. Ava proves to be strong and courageous in this book. Other characters, including some new characters, help twist and turn the storyline around as you read.

The end of the book proved an excellent conclusion to the series. This book was not one where I felt like the story just ended with more to be written. However, I must say, I believe I could spend more time with these characters.

So, if you are looking for a work of Young Adult fantasy for someone in your life, or you just enjoy fantasy novels with amazing characters and excellent storylines, check out Chromatic by Ashley Bustamante for yourself.

Ashley Bustamante has created stories from the moment she could scribble and staple sheets of paper together. She simply cannot recall a time when writing was not a force in her life. She currently works at Arizona State University.

Sitting down to write the final installment of the Color Theory series was an emotional experience. I wanted to do well by my readers and do well by God. And of course, I wanted to stay true to the story I set out to write in the beginning.

One of the difficult things about writing this book is that I knew the characters were going to have to face higher stakes and deeper pain than ever before. Given the situation they are in, it had to be that way. But, in spite of what Ava, Elm, and crew will face in Chromatic, this is ultimately a story of hope and triumph.

As I’ve watched the struggles of the world right now and seen what so many readers are going through, I knew I wanted to tell a tale of perseverance. No matter how bleak our circumstances may be, we can still find the light.
