Thus course is excellent!  The short recorded sessions with Edward, Rick, Colleen, Jim, and Amy, were full of helpful information for writers in any genre.  The workbook download helped me with note taking and reinforced the learning.  I also am grateful that I can retake the course whenever I need a refresher.  It is definitely worth $24.99.

MY REVIEW:

For many years I have enjoyed reading the Guideposts magazines.  In the last couple of years, I started dreaming about writing and more specifically – writing devotionals.  So when the opportunity to review this product came up, I was thrilled.

I found the instructors to be informative and interesting. The course includes 12 videos that I found the length of was manageable.  A downloadable workbook is provided for taking notes.  In some ways, I wish the workbook also included slides of the major bullets displayed on the screen.  Quizzes are provided at the end of each lesson, which is why I believe having the major points printed out would have made things easier.
For each quiz, I had the opportunity to take them multiple times.  Of course, being a teacher, my goal was to get 100% each time.  I found this extremely doable.  I would have loved for guided exercises or writing suggestions to have been provided at the end of each lesson.
However all in all, I have to say I was really pleased with this course and learned a lot from it.  So check it out for yourself.  Click on the graphic below to learn more and to purchase the course for yourself.

Review of Adaptive Math Curriculum Online from A+ Interactive Math (by A+ TutorSoft Inc.)

I was blessed while growing up to be one of those children that math came easy to through the years.  It may have helped that my dad was a draftsmen and designer and was willing to help me with math.  Or perhaps it was because I was blessed with amazing teachers for math (with only one exception).  My husband is another one that math came easy to as well.  But then we had children.  Essentially out of our four children only one of them excels at math.  So I recognize our children may need some additional help with mathematics – especially our 15-year-old daughter.  With the Adaptive Math Curriculum Online from A+ Interactive Math (by A+ TutorSoft Inc.) we are able to to identify and address learning gaps in my daughter’s math skills with their Adaptive Math Curriculum Online that includes placement tests along with lesson plans.

From the company’s website they show they offer the following:

  • Homeschool Edition – Placement Test w/ Lesson Plan to “Identify & Close” Learning Gaps
  • Homeschool Edition – Family Math Packages – Online (Options to choose between 1-10 students)
  • Homeschool Edition – Single Grade Level – Online Curriculum (PC and MAC compatible)
  • Homeschool Edition – Multi-Sensory Interactive Math Full Curriculum Software CDs
  • School Edition – Placement Test w/ Lesson Plant to “Identify & Close” Learning Gaps
  • School Edition – Multi-Sensory Interactive Math Curriculum
  • Full Curriculum Books
  • Workbooks (Worksheets & Exams PACK)
  • Mini Courses Online

This is a one year subscription for up to ten students.  So it is a great program for homeschooling families to use.  Whether you have one child or more, each child can get the individualized instruction to meet his/her needs.  For this review, we concentrated solely on the 7th grade/Pre-Algebra level.  My goal was to ensure our daughter would fill in any gaps in her learning.  For the most part we loved this program.  However, it is an online program, which means the computer is grading the work.  Students begin with the placement test for fractions and work their way through exponents and work their way through other topics including variables and more.  As long as the student achieves an acceptable level, they are allowed to move on to the next level.  However, if they miss too many problems, then they will work through video lessons and problems to make sure they understand the concepts.

The answers must be in the form the computer deems acceptable, however, there are no instructions to tell the students what format their answers should be in.  So for example, if a student leaves their answer as a fraction instead of changing it into a decimal, they will get the problem wrong.  For some children, I am sure this could be a great source of frustration.  At the same time, I have to say, I love the idea of having a program that can address the needs of my children by addressing those areas they are weak in while allowing them to move on when they demonstrate they understand a concept.

You can find A+ Interactive Math (by A+ TutorSoft Inc.)  on social media at:

The adaptive program goes from grades 1-6 along with Pre-Algebra.  They also offer a Family Math Package that includes grades 1-6, Pre-Algebra and Algebra I.  So check it out for yourself.  Whether you are looking for a complete math curriculum or trying to fill in gaps, like our family did, check out Adaptive Math Curriculum Online or the Family Math Package from A+ Interactive Math (by A+ TutorSoft Inc.)  for yourself.

Last Minute Christmas Gift Idea

This year, I discovered a remarkable company that sells amazing art products.  So I was thrilled when they reached out to our family to review their Magic Stix Washable Markers. These markers are incredible.  As soon as I opened the package, our 15-year-old daughter began to draw with them.

Here are some pictures of her drawing along with the finished product.

These markers have some amazing features.  First, they are odorless, so it makes them perfect to use on the go or in small spaces.  Second, they are washable, so this means you do not have to worry about them permanently staining anything.  Next, they are non-toxic, so they are safe to use around young children.

Another amazing feature is that they are guaranteed to not dry out with the cap off for 7 days.  If you are like me, that makes these incredibly useful.  I can not tell you the number of times, I went to use a marker, only to find it was dried out.  So you really need to check these out for yourself.  Here is a picture of our test.  I will be back to update you on how things go.  We are on Day 1 currently.

Also, these markers come in bright and bold colors.  Here is a quick drawing I did myself.

Now I am not the best artist in the world, but I found these markers great to use.  They come in either 12 or 24 packs.  They are available on Amazon.com.  Click here for the 24-pack or click here for the 12 pack.

Check them out for yourself.  Let me know what you think.  I would love to hear from you. May you have a blessed Christmas.
