A Life Set Free ~ A Review & Giveaway

About the Book

Book: A Life Set Free

Author: Rena Groot

Genre: Non-Fiction

Release date: 2019

A Life Set Free was carried in my heart for years before I finally had the courage to write it. It was written under a mosquito net in China. The final editing took place at a guest house in Israel. It is filled with stories from God sparing my life to leading me on incredible adventures as an ambassador with “The Department of Eternal Affairs” to so many cool places ~ Haiti, a jungle village in Belize, the Ghetto in NYC, behind the Iron Curtain in Poland and Romania, Israel, China, Thailand, Mexico, Canada, Africa, and Greece. It is a story of God’s love and faithfulness.

A Life Set Free by Rena Groot is a work of non-fiction. It chronicles events in the life of Rena Groot. Each chapter begins with a picture of a puzzle piece and a Scriptural reference. Then she details things that happened to her and how God used them for His plan. From her childhood through the time she was writing this book, I felt the presence of God on every page.

She illustrates how man makes plans, but then God disposes of those plans. His power, His presence, His glory, and His love fill the pages of this book. I think one of my favorite parts of the book revolves around the time she and her husband worked at a camp as well as the time she went to China to teach.

From travel plans to financial issues or decisions to horrific events, the author only disclosed by saying the events were horrific. I felt like I was living her life beside her. I loved getting to know her, her family, and those around them. Her aunt, who raised her for a time, illustrated God’s love – even if she did not know Him then.

Even though I have never left the contiguous forty-eight states, I felt like I was on each mission trip with her and could visualize the sights she described.

So if you enjoy works of Christian non-fiction, check out A Life Set Free by Rena Groot for yourself. It truly illustrates to power and love of God.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

  1. Rena Groot has traveled all over the world. I am so jealous. When I was her age I was so afraid of everything. She is such a great writer.
