Shocked at how one lie bled so easily into another, Anna realizes her reputation of devout Christian living is about to disappear like a leaf caught in a windstorm. Having suffered through her husband dealing with and then dying from cancer, Anna has walked a very devastating path of caring for her husband and basically raising their two sons on their own.  However, once her husband dies, the doctor who has gone through the journey with them develops an intense interest in Anna.

Anna realizes she has basically dealt with everything she can handle, Dr. Matthew Carmichael provides the attention and support she had been missing from her deceased husband.  So they wind up have one night of intense intimacy that leads to Anna becoming pregnant.

Have you ever had people assume something to be true before you can explain the truth?  Anna finds herself in that position.  People believe Christians should act a certain way and when they fail to live up to those expectations those people turn against or possibly talk about the one who failed to meet their expectations.

Add in a niece who finds herself in a similar situation and the intensity of this story grows.  The book illustrates how one decision made with a lack of good judgment can have both damaging and amazing consequences over the course of time.  This story illustrates the true attributes of Christian forgiveness, Christian leadership in a family, and Christian love.

So check out this book for yourself.  I definitely recommend it.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

MORE ABOUT WHY I WROTE ANNA’S SECRET

I am a hopeless romantic, it has been at the core of my being from a child up. I dreamed of a love that would whisk me far from the pain of my childhood upbringing.

When I first started to write Anna’s Secret, I had not yet learned all I needed to know about forgiveness. I was half-way through the book when sorrow and betrayal hit my marriage. (See “About Me” at https://blossomturner.com) I stopped writing for years.

However, as God healed the broken and restored my soul, words of love once again danced within my being. God directed that I finish this book weaving in all I learned from the crucible of suffering in my own life. Through understanding the restorative power of God’s forgiveness when humanity fails, I wrote Anna’s Secret with a strong thread of hope woven into its fabric.

Readers have expressed to me that the authenticity of this book has brought them to tears and given them a love story that entertained. However, the part I love the most … Anna’s Secret has inspired some readers to ask God for the help to forgive themselves, or for the power to offer the gift of forgiveness to another.

My prayer is that you will find Anna’s Secret an entertaining romance, inspiration to your soul, and that you will enjoy the happy ending … always a happy ending. After all, God is the God of happily ever after, and heaven is the home in which all His children will find the greatest love of all.

If you enjoy Christian suspense novels, this book is definitely one you should read. The Biblical characters and the suspense aspects blend beautifully in this book.  I love the depth of the character development and how the storyline develops.  It paints an interesting perspective on what happens if people do not age or die.

Even though I did not read the first book in the series, I felt I was able to relate to the characters without any trouble.  I appreciate how Amanda G. Stevens  addresses the ideas of faith with suspense and fantasy.

I have to say I definitely recommend this book.  So if you like reading books that contain faith, fantasy, and suspense, check out this book for yourself.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

About the Author

AmandaStevensAs a child, Amanda G. Stevens disparaged Mary Poppins and Stuart Littlebecause they could never happen. Now she writes speculative fiction. She is the author of the Haven Seekers series, and her debut Seek and Hide was a 2015 INSPY Award finalist. She lives in Michigan and loves trade paperbacks, folk music, the Golden Era of Hollywood, and white cheddar popcorn.

More from Amanda

For years, the theme of immortality has intrigued me. I love the Elves of Middle-Earth, the “happiest and saddest” of the peoples Tolkien created as they watch the ages pass. I love the exploration of aged sorrow in Tuck Everlasting. I’ve stuck with TV shows which shall remain nameless (but, ahem, a few feature vampires) because I’m always wondering how did this writer tackle immortality? Anything new? Are the characters convincingly old and young at the same time?

The thing is, while some of these fiction works satisfy me more than others, I’m always left with a tug of incompletion. Eventually I figured out this tug was a story in my own head and heart wanting to come out, a contemporary story that included the gospel. What might God’s plan be for those whose earthly days seem unnumbered? How would their age affect their interactions with humanity and with faith? These questions were the springboard for the No Less Days series, and of course the answers vary with the individual. Ultimately this is why I write: to explore people, their inner selves, their relationships. My goal is always to create characters that breathe from the page.

In From Sky to Sky, we get a look into the head and heart of Zac Wilson, who has been on the run from God longer than any of us could imagine: a full century playing the prodigal. I always try to be honest about how much life can hurt, “even” for the Christian; if we had triple the number of years to accumulate hurt in this broken world, we’d have a lot of it. That’s true of all my ageless characters, including Zac. To scratch the surface, this man fought in two world wars and has outlived all his children.

But the sum of Zac is much more than his collected wounds. He is a deep-feeling, fun-loving, generous guy. He enjoys music and physical activity. He has an insatiable sweet tooth and a need for open spaces. He’s not afraid to laugh at his own expense, and he has a boundless love for people and the stories of their lives.

My hope is that readers will grow to love this young old guy as they journey with him through some dark times toward redemption and light.

Review of Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC’s “The Unbreakable Faith Course”

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.

Review of The Unbreakable Faith Course

If you are studying Christian apologetics you will want to be sure to check out The Unbreakable Faith Course from Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC.  As the wife of a Primitive Baptist preacher and the mother of three sons ages 23, 21, and 19 plus a daughter who is 17, I am always on the lookout for new Bible Study materials to help solidify our family’s faithand our children’s worldview ideas.  So when our family had the opportunity to review the Unbreakable Faith Course from Pilgrim’s Rock, LLC, I was thrilled.

For this review we received online access to the Unbreakable Faith course along with physical copies of two books: God the Reason: How Infinite Excellence Gives Unbreakable Faith and The Box: Answering the Faith of Unbelief. According to their website, “The Study explores the infinite excellence of God’s perfections, exposes unbelief as irrational, unscientific, and blind faith, and demonstrates the impossibility of all things without God.” Unbreakable Faith encourages a comprehensive look at achieving a Biblical worldview while strengthening faith in Christ..  Completing this course will provide 1 unit of high school credit.

collage

Videos, readings, and quizzes comprise the majority of the course.  Our family found the videos were easy to understand and enjoyable to watch.  We enjoyed listening to what the instructor had to say.  As a teacher, I appreciated how everything was clearly laid out and easy to follow as far as what item needed to be done next. Also, the course requires that each item be done in order and the student cannot move onto the next item until the previous item is completed.

This course is perfect for high school credit, to do as a family, to do in a homeschool co-op setting or even to be done by a Church or a ministry.  I love when our family is able to do something like this course together as a family.  We decided to watch the videos together as a family and then everyone was able to read the books on their own time at their own speed.

God The Reason

God the Reason: How Infinite Excellence Gives Unbreakable Faithand The Box are available as either physical books or ebooks  God the Reason: How Infinite Excellence Gives Unbreakable Faith provides sound theological information about how God is perfect in every way.  We found the book straight forward and easy to read.  One of our favorite sections of the book that we have read so far is how we owe God everything and He owes us nothing.  Given that our family just moved from Texas to North Carolina courtesy of the military, we have watched God’s hand on everything concerning our move.  And this book just helps emphasize this point.

The Box

The Box: Answering the Faith of Unbelief presents a dialogue between a Christian and an atheist.  As a parent, I want my children (even our adult children) to be able to logically discuss their faith and why they believe what they believe.  This book does an excellent job of helping them formulate answers to possible questions or ideas that make come up in general conversation.  One of my favorite quotes from this book examines how we as humans have limitations, but God has no limitations. This book illustrates God’s infinite excellence and the infinite excellence of God’s perfections

Liam is her biological brother, but she’s just as close to Chad and Mitch who might as well be blood relatives. In this novel, Helen has to relive the worst moment of her teenage life, the night when a mysterious murder occurred during a teen prank. Helen is going to have to face the past in order to preserve her future. Cowboys, a case gone cold, a coastal ranch and a whole lot of danger…I hope you will enjoy the ride!

More from Shirley

New beginnings are a regular part of life. Sometimes they are well planned, and we eagerly anticipate the future. At other times, we are reticent to move forward into the new beginning. As we think about new beginnings it is appropriate for us to look at the beginning of God’s Word—the Bible.

In Genesis 1:1 ESV, we read, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Here God is the subject, as He is the subject of the entire Bible. From this verse we learn something very important about God—He existed before the universe was created. God has always been, is now, and will always be, present.

Next, we learn that from nothing God created the universe and everything within it. He is the holy, sovereign, majestic, powerful, all-knowing God.

Every time I read these first few verses of the Bible, I am amazed that with just four little words, Let there be light (verse 3), the Creator God spoke into existence light that drove away the darkness. What astounding power! From these verses, we learn that God is the Author of light. Other places in Scripture tell us that God is light itself (1 John 1:5), and James calls Him the Father of lights (James 1:17).

Think about it: here we are today, many years since God spoke those four little words, Let there be light, and as John tells us, The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). The Light—God—brings clarity, order, and understanding, while darkness is seen as evil, void, and chaotic.

I watched the coverage of a solar eclipse on several websites. It was so interesting to listen as a myriad of scientists and others explained the wonders of the universe, and while the science behind it all was quite interesting to me, the coverage fell flat. Why? Because it was totally devoid of any mention of Creator God. Only one man explained the solar eclipse through the lens of God’s Word. As he explained the science behind the solar eclipse, he also explained that THE God of the Universe who created everything that we see, holds the entire universe in His hands, and controls everything that happens, including a solar eclipse.

In the midst of a new beginning or anything else going on in your life, the truths in these passages are wonderful reminders that we can step confidently into any new beginning as we trust in the God who was here in the beginning, is here with us now, and who will be with us always. And what a comfort it is to remember that the light of God dispels the darkness and chaos of sin.

Leaving Texas coverI know the plans I have for you, plans for good, not evil.

Cruel is the illusion of love. Robbed of her true love by his mean-spirited mother, Charity is given no choice but to leave Texas and follow her Prince Charming to the Golden State. Instantly attracted to her, Morgan agrees to help the young beauty on her journey, but where all other ladies paled after first blush, his initial fascination only deepens with every turn of the wagon’s wheels. Though obvious to all those around the two—how perfect Morgan and Charity were for each other—will the hard-headed, strong-willed daughter of Liberty O’Neal Harrell ever realize it?

img_0888

For quite a while I have enjoyed reading books by Caryl McAdoo, and this book is no exception.  Having read the other books in this series, I was excited to see what this story would reveal.  Charity makes the difficult decision to leave her family and Texas and seek out the man she believes she loves.  But as sometimes happens, time and distance play a cruel trick on Charity’s heart.  Along the journey, she meets Morgan who proves he is worthy of her friendship and possibly more.

I love how this story captures the essence of why Christians need to forgive others not for the other’s sake but for their own instead.  I also love how this story emphasizes how telling the truth can have remarkable results in the case of one of Charity’s friends who is on the journey with her.

So if you enjoy Christian books that include forgiveness and love, check out this book for yourself.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

About the Author

Caryl McAdooPraying her story gives God glory, award-winning author Caryl McAdoo continues prolificity with her new Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga series. Readers around the world enjoy her best-selling novels and shower them with 5-Star ratings galore. With forty-eight titles—and counting—her love for writing is obvious; the lady loves singing the new songs the Lord gives her as well! (Check out YouTube). Caryl gave Ron four children and the couple shares eighteen grandsugars. The McAdoos live in the woods south of Clarksville, the seat of Red River County, in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.

More from Caryl

As my second family saga series—Cross Timbers Romance—grows, and the children of Book One GONE TO TEXAS come into adulthood, I fall more in love with these characters. This story—Book Four in the series, LEAVIN’ TEXAS, takes readers on another wagon train that historically left right about the same time of year as its early spring setting from Red River County, heading for California in 1850.

LEAVIN’ TEXAS is Charity O’Neal’s story wherein she determines to follow her Prince Charming, Eberhart ‘Hart’ de Vecchi, to California to start her new life with him there—no matter the naysayers or rough trails ahead. But as so often is the case, our plans and those God has in place for us don’t always correlate.

Many times, we’ve prayed about it—what we want Him to do, how we expect everything to turn out—and feel certain we are in His will. I personally thank God for praying mothers, friends, and grandmothers who perhaps see us heading in a wrong direction and beseech Him to guide us in His way, not our own.

My life has benefitted from such praying women.
So does Charity O’Neal’s.
I imagine yours has as well!

I love the well-known verse in Jeremiah! “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 Especially the ‘expected end’ part. I find great comfort in knowing His thoughts—or plans—are of peace and not evil, and that He intends to give us an expected end!

I hope you enjoy LEAVING TEXAS and will take time to review it!
BLESSINGS!

School of the MiraculousDemystifying Miracles

What if you could experience something miraculous every day?

Many Christians think of miracles as rare events for a select and fortunate few. But miracles don’t have be something mysterious and out of reach. They don’t have to be the exception. Just as they were common in the early church, they can become common for you.

School of the MiraculousA Practical Guide to Walking in Daily Miracles by Dr. Kynan Bridges shows how every believer can develop a miracle mind-set, operate in miracles, and establish a lifestyle in which miraculous events occur.

Dr. Kynan has encountered many believers who are frustrated because they are not seeing evidence of God’s power in their circumstances. They have a growing desperation for more of His intervention in their lives. This book was designed to answer that cry for more.

The Holy Spirit is the Miracle Worker—but all miracles involve human participation in some way. Dr. Kynan reveals that our growing intimacy with God’s Spirit will lead us to see and participate in His miracles—living in His power and setting our expectations increasingly higher for His miraculous works in our lives.

This practical guide for every believer is filled with ideas for personal application, encouraging testimonies, and spiritual activation prayers for tapping into the miraculous. Enroll in the School of the Miraculous today!
