31 Days of Five Minute Free Write Prompts – Same

Welcome to my next installment for my 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writing Prompts.  Today’s word is “same”.  As a homeschooling family, the word same can conjure up a lot of things in my mind.

For example, when we first began our homeschooling journey, I did not want our homeschooling days to look the same as public school classrooms.  So I tried to mix things up a little.  We homeschooled while sitting on the sofa.  We homeschooled in the van.  One time we even did some homeschool in a hotel at a Universal Studio resort hotel in Florida because Dad had to be there for an army conference.

Another picture that comes to mind when I hear the word “same” is that the same materials do not work for all children equally.  What worked for my oldest son did not necessarily work for my other children.  Or what did not work for him wound up working fine for one or more of our other children.

Finally, I can realistically expect my children to do the same things that other students do.  Every one of us is different.  The only thing that is the same for all of us is God’s amazing love for us.  He sent His Only Begotten Son to die on the Cross for all of our sins.

So what comes to mind when you hear the word “same”?  I would love to hear from you.

summer flash coverWorthington Investigations is on another grisly case in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

When P.I. Shauna Pratley heads up the investigation for Christopher Newen, a rural firefighter, she only wants to solve his father’s murder not fall in love. She’s struggling to decide if God’s directing her to leave the team and re-enlist in the Army.

Christopher Newen may be used to the blazes of fire but not the heat ricocheting between him and Shauna. He needs the team’s help but has no intention of letting flames ignite between him and Shauna…yet her protective nature and fun-loving personality draw him in more than he wants to admit.

How will they work together to find a killer without letting love get in the way? Will they have to admit maybe God has used the horrors of evil to bring them together for good?

Summer Flash Burn is the second in a series of books about Worthington Investigations, a female team of investigators.  Shauna, a tough no-nonsense type of woman is the perfect fit for this type of work.  She knows what she needs to do, even if she is somewhat rough around the edges.  Her diplomacy skills definitely needed some work.  From the very start of the story, she demanded my attention.

Christopher Newen is their client, looking only to find out who murdered his dad.  Neither of them are looking for love, but the sparks seem to fly from the start (which seems ironic since Christopher is a part-time firefighter).

This book is filled with strong women including the women who form the investigator team as well as a female chief for a Native American tribe.  This book definitely has a lot to offer with danger, intrigue, and adventure.  So check it out for yourself.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

About the Author

Erin UngerErin Unger was raised in the hills of Virginia, exploring abandoned houses and reading the scariest books she could find. After marrying so young it would make a great romance novel, she has enjoyed an exciting life with her hubby. But her fast-paced life sometimes rivals the suspense in her books thanks to all her mostly grown children and a couple grandkids.

More from Erin

If you like spicy, you’re gonna love Shauna Pratley. She has the muscles and weaponry knowledge to protect her team—along with a very tough attitude. And she knows better than most what it is to serve and protect after a stint in the Army. But now life is a little upside down to her. Should she re-enlist or solidify her career with Worthington Investigations? Of course, her military background will never wear off even if she doesn’t return. She won’t leave her camo uniforms in the dust, either, no matter how hard her P.I. buddies try to put a little variety in her wardrobe.

But under it all, Shauna couldn’t be a better partner to work with. Her loyalty and protectiveness would make you all wish she was your work buddy and best friend too.

Just take a look in Summer Flash Burn for all the spice and thrills—and love—you could want between the pages of a great romantic suspense novel.
