My First Make-a-Meal Monday post for link-up’

Make-a-Meal Monday

So an online friend and fellow Home School Review Crew blogger started a new link-up this week that is right up my alley.  Cassandra of My Blessed Mess posted about her new link-up and I felt I wanted to participate.

With a husband in the military, three sons (all at or above 6 feet tall) and a daughter who is 16, mealtimes are important around our home.  Also, we try to do one major shopping trip a month, so having a plan for what we are going to eat is important.  Since I just found out about this link-up today, I want to concentrate on how we plan for our meals.

My primary method of meal planning is using my wall calendar.  I buy the Amy Knapp calendar from Amazon.  I love the size of the squares for this calendar and the fact it has a place for meals.  This allows my husband or sons to pull out what we need either the night before or in the morning.

Here is a sample picture of our calendar.  For example, for tomorrow, we are planning on having riblets we bought from our local grocery store, Baked Beans with Brisket (bought at Sam’s Club), broccoli, and canned corn.  Depending on how time goes in the morning, I may try to make homemade Naan to grill.  I am planning on using a recipe I found on the Simply Whisked site.  You can see the recipe here.

Once we actually cook the meal, I will add pictures.

I am a wife and homeschooling mother of 4. I am a Christian who firmly believes that Jesus Christ died for my sins. We are a military family who just relocated from Pennsylvania to Texas. I enjoy Bible journaling, reading, crocheting, scrapbooking and quilting. I am beginning to attempt art journaling.

  1. I love this idea of using a big calendar in a central location for meal planning! I bet this eliminates a lot of the “Mom whats for dinner?” questions 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up for Make-a-Meal Mondays!

    1. Thanks for creating this wonderful link-up.

I love our big calendar. We keep it in a central location so everyone can see. This means it is in our dining area currently. So everyone has to walk by it to get to the kitchen. Even though our children are 23, 20, 18, and 16, they still ask what is for dinner. By having it on the calendar, it helps eliminate some of those questions.
