Gearing Up for 2015 – 2016 School Year

2015 2016 school year begins

So we are entering our 10th year of homeschooling.  That is somewhat hard to believer.  It makes me wonder where time has gone.  Our oldest was in the 5th grade when we began the journey.  Now he is 19 years old and has graduated from homeschooling.  Our second son is entering the 11th grade, while our youngest son is entering 10th.  Our daughter should be entering 8th grade – but I have a feeling we will end up counting this year as her freshman year of high school as well.  She is extremely motivated to get up in the morning to do her work.

Many years ago, I discovered my children do not do well with a long summer vacation.  They do much better with doing school in the summer, but having many breaks and days off during the year – even if those breaks are shorter.  So that leaves me to spend time planning and preparing for when their current books/materials run out.

Right now, we are in the midst of a three week break.  We have this week off and I am enjoying some time iwth my daughter while my husband attends a conference for work.  Then next week, we will have our annual family vacation, which includes a celebration for our 23rd anniversary.  Then we will come home with the goal of canning tomatoes – including tomato chunks – as opposed to diced and also trying our hand at canning salsa, tomato sauce and maybe even trying to make ketchup and barbecue sauce.

So what is up in your world?  I would love to hear from you.

I am a wife and homeschooling mother of 4. I am a Christian who firmly believes that Jesus Christ died for my sins. We are a military family who just relocated from Pennsylvania to Texas. I enjoy Bible journaling, reading, crocheting, scrapbooking and quilting. I am beginning to attempt art journaling.
