The letter for today for the Blogging A to Z challenge is “L”. For me, “L” brings to mind Language Arts (including Literature), Laughter and Listening.
Language Arts is one of those subjects that causes me to cringe. While I absolutely adore reading, trying to teach Language Arts to my children is quite another subject. Spelling and writing seem to cause great distress in our home. I have found Institute for Excellence in Writing and Daily Grams do a good job of getting us through Language Arts.
Some Literature choices are wonderful to read and others leave a lot to be desired. Some of my favorite books to read come from a company called Lamplighter Publishing. The books from this company have provided hours of enjoyment for my family. They even have turned some of their books into audio dramas that we listen to as we are driving from place to place.
Laughter is another thing that is important to our family. My children have a way of adding excitement and adventure to our lives that results in laughter. When there is something to laugh about, it adds enjoyment to the day.
Listening is another important skill. Sometimes it is more important to listen than to speak. Listening allows us to know what is truly being said. It is especially important to listen for the voice of God in our family because He leads us in the way we should go.
Looking is another word that comes to mind when I think of the letter “L”. As we go about our homeschooling day, looking is important. We need to look at what we are reading, writing, or calculating. Looking for observations is an important part of science.
So what comes to mind when you hear the letter “L”. I look forward to hearing from you.
