New Bible Studies, New Hobbies and Other Things in Our Lives

We are working towards getting back into a routine with homeschooling.  Organizing and decluttering are two words that are heard frequently about our home.  Dennis is in the process of getting his re-enlistment paperwork filled out.  Life just seems to be moving very quickly and so slowly all at the same time.

I am working on getting a Masters degree this year.  I have also become involved in something new, Bible Journaling.  So I am accumulating all kinds of information to assist me in the effort.  As I complete some things, I will be posting them here. One thing I have been doing with this is using PicMonkey to create Scripture Art.

I am really looking forward to digging into God’s Word in our latest Proverbs 31 Ministries Online Bible Study for Karen Ehman’s latest book, “Keep It Shut”.   This book is amazing.  Today we have been talking about being #Intentional.  I want to be more intentional about what I say and do and that includes blogging.

Here is something that I created today.

I have joined a Bible Journaling community on Facebook and this something I created for a prompt in one f the groups.  So what is going on in your world?  I would love for you to share

Been a While

Psalm 51 10

So it has been a while since I have posted.  The Christmas holiday has come and gone and a new year has started.  This past weekend we took down our Christmas tree and decorations.  The living room seems bare with it gone, and it is darker without the bright white Christmas tree lights.  We are starting to settle back into the routine of school.

I have been reading quite a bit and have completed several books.  Now I am getting ready to dive into Bible and Art Journaling along with trying to organize our home.  I am also prepared to get back to posting on a more regular basis.  What is going on in your world?   I would love to hear from you.

January 2, 2015 – A Blank Slate

Psalm 37 4

The new year has just begun and 2014 is history.  The new year holds all sorts of possibilities and opportunities.  It is time to say good bye to the old (especially if it did not work well), and welcome the potential for change.  I am currently working on getting things organized for homeschooling starting back on Monday.  In addition I am participating in several other opportunities including:  Documented Faith, Documented Life, Take Me Deeper 2015, and trying to expand my horizons by working on a masters degree, continuing to blog, supporting my husband and trying to keep up with the home.

For the last couple of years, I have heard constant mention about choosing a life verse.  So 2015 is the year I decided to embrace the challenge and select a verse.  It wasn’t easy.

What are your thoughts and intentions for the new year.  I would love to hear from you.

New Year’s Day

Psalm 51 10

So it is the start of a new year with endless possibilities.  For this year, I have chosen my main word of the year to be “create” and I shared yesterday why.

But I have chosen two other words as well.  I have chosen “delight” from the verse Psalm 37:4, “Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart”.  I want to choose this year to delight in the Lord, in my family, our church, our homeschooling and life in general.

Another word I have chosen is “faith” from the verse Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the evidence of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.”  This is one of Dennis’ favorite verses to preach on and I love hearing it.  It speaks to my heart and my soul.

Finally another word I have chosen is “trust”.  I know in the coming months with Dennis reenlisting and preparing to also enroll in the seminary for his masters degree in divinity and the possibility of an impending move from PCS orders, trust is going to become important.  I love the verses found in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”  I loved hearing this verse in the movie, “Flywheel”.

So what is your word and/or verse for the year?  I look forward to hearing from you.

My Word for the Year

So all over the place recently, I have seen mention of choosing one word for the year as an alternative to making resolutions.  It is all about choosing the one word that God speaks to a person’s heart.  Or maybe God leads someone else to help pick a word.

So I have read about it all over Facebook and in various online communities I am part of now.  But I could not really decide if it was the right thing for me or not.  Until yesterday.  Along with reading about choosing a word, I had been looking into selecting a life verse.  Over the past year or so, I have played around with the idea of a life verse, but I didn’t get too far with it.  So yesterday, I started doing research.  I looked at blogs and websites and studied various verses.  I finally found several that really stood out to me.  But the one that really jumped off the page was Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

This verse speaks to everything I pray for 2015.  I want to “create”.  I want to create memories with my family and create bonds with our children.  I want to “create” a haven in our home.  I want to create blog posts and see where blogging takes me.  I want to create quilts and crocheted blankets for my family and others.  I want to create ideas and write them down on paper.  I want to “create” a deeper and more satisfying relationship with God and with studying my Bible.  So I have selected #create as my word for the year.

Have you selected a word for 2015?  If you have, I would love to hear it.
